Alarm screen blanks when I'm trying to dismiss it

My alarm shows on the screen, but when I go to press snooze or dismiss, the screen turns off. It's like the vibration triggers the "turn off screen" command. I have to press the side button to display it and hit the dismiss button before the next vibration. 

 

I have restarted the device. I have not factory reset it yet, in case this is a known bug (although I can't find anything), and the fact that it has only been used for about 2 weeks. I feel like I JUST set it up.
