Download HeartRate data.

Hi all!

As computer tech specialist I love data. That's also one reason why I bought my Fitbit Charge HR. Just to get more data about how my body works in several situations.

On the "Personal Settings" site you can download some of your data like: Body, Foods, Activity and Sleep.

What I really miss here is the HeartRate data.

On the Android app I can see my HeartRate during the whole day, on the dashboard I can only see my HeartRate during excecises or just my Resting Heart Rate.

Is there anyway how I can see my 'whole day' HeartRate online? And a possibility to download this data into a .csv file like other data?

Thanks!

Hi
Hmmmmmm - I'll have to check this out. Can you give me a bit more info such as what parameters you selected for the data download and when you received the error message?

Thanks

My bad, I thought I had replied to the poster above who linked to the scripts.  I'm getting an error in that process.

The app on your website works just fine.  Thank you for making that public because I was able to get some helpful data that I need at the moment.  I'm just looking for a long-term solution that doesn't give access to my data to third parties.

Awesome, thanks for sharing all this information @SquashPlayer, it's very useful.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @slimshadylurker, I think you were referring to the information provided by @SunsetRunner. Unfortunately this not yet possible directly through Fitbit software and and though there are plans to have this option in the future, there's no specific date on when this idea could be implemented.

Hi SquashPlayer, I went to your website, registered for an account, and am attempting to download data using your application. I got to the Allow permission page, and was taken back to your site where the following error was displayed:

Sorry, but something has gone wrong and we are not able to process your last request.

Please try repeating your last action and if it still doesn't work, then let us know using the Contact Us page.

Planning to contact you through the webpage, but figured I'd let you know here too. Any idea what the problem might be?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @hkaytoday, thanks for sharing this information. Were you trying to complete this setup process through a computer or through the Fitbit application on a mobile device? In case you're still getting this error, could you please share a screenshot as well?

I've discovered that salespeople and product descriptions of fitness devices are really can't tell you if a device will do what you want it to do. So I've now discovered that my newly purchased Fitbit Charge 2 can't provide me with detailed heart rate information. I will have to return it.

@SquashPlayer Thank you very much for this opportunity! Your download works great and was very easy. However, I have one question. The time-series of the data seem to be irregular (skipping with one second to 3 seconds intervals) Is there any way you would/can fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Hi

The data you download is exactly as it is supplied from Fitbit via their API. The device captured the heart rate like this - every few seconds rather than continuously. How this helps.

Hey

Thanks for your quick reply! I'll have to find my way in re-sorting the data then. Thanks very much for offering this opportunity to extract the data from the Fitbit!

Kind regards,

Hi,

Keep reading about the promise of Fitbit providing heart rate (HR) data download capability "sometime in the future". Since Fitbit continues to claim this data is accurate why not enable this capability now?

You are pushing new devices with HR features but won't give us access to our data???

This position appears at odds with the Fitbit strategy of digital healthcare.

Looking for consistency from an industry leader. I would like access to my HR data now!

I too contacted support asking "where is this feature?" - they told me to post in the Community forum as this is where the developers look. I use my Charge HR on my xBox, iOS, Mac and PC but I really want access to the historic heart rate information.

Please please please make this a feature soon!

Hi guys,

I want to buy a heartrate recorder that actually fulfills it´s primary function (providing heartrate data).

(Ideally even without uploading it onto someone else´s servers).

I just bought & returned a garmin, now I see that fitbit has the same problem.

Is there a competing product where there´s a sane way of exporting your sensor data?

Thanks a lot!

P.

I share the frustration that there does not appear to be a wrist wearable "heart monitor" that provides for the downloading of detailed intraday heart rate information. I use the wonderful Squash League web site and am very appreciative of their providing it, but there is no assurance that it will always be available. Again, thank you Squash League!

Hi

These posts are good because they show the interest and engagement with health, through hard of the fitbit devices. However it is disappointing that the company seem to have been saying for a while now, that they will introduce a mechanism within the app to export heart rate vs time, but have not done so. The data clearly exists and it should very much not be a problem to do this, you just need to stop suggesting it is a problem and... do it!

I note one point about the fact that this data might be charged for, but fitbit have made the comment that this data belongs you the user, so please give it to us. The ability to analyse the data using Excel to assess fitness metrics based on recovery time,  etc would be good and is presently held back somewhat. With easily exportable data, the community can become even more involved and start producing analysis sheets to share with everyone.

I agree with you 100%.

The customer support told me something like "our techs are working on it". They seem to say that for years now.

This feels dishonest, because giving us a copy of the data the sw already uploads requires no additional tech.

BTW, there´s an open source project called galileo (https://bitbucket.org/benallard/galileo) that´s basically a linux replacement for the fitbit connect software.

And bonus: It gives you access to the raw sensor data.

Not very user friendly though, and doesn´t support all devices yet.

Due to the risk of sudden death onset by complications of my heart disease hypotrophic cardiomyopathy I have an Icd device fitted in my chest. I use my fitbit charge hr as an additional safeguard to allow me to exercise within safe limits. I was curious to see but then very disappointed with the fitbit hr data log chart withing the app as it doesnt allow me to easily zoom into specific times or events. I am hoping you dudes read this and update the charts with more information and the ability to zoom in or access the data as everyone above is hoping for. Cheers

Exporting or viewing heart rate during sleeping hours would be very helpful to folks who suffer from a low resting heart rate (bradycardia).  I would like to formally request the ability to download heart rate data from either the app or the website.  I've seen the data via an external site that was programmed by someone in the community.  It would be nice to see Fitbit embrace this and produce this data via their own website.  Simply select date or range and export.
