The display on my wife's Fitbit Charge 5 doesn't come on without vigorous shaking or hard tapping. Is there anything we can do to change this back to normal?

@Roald , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message. 

Please on the clock face of the Charge 5, swipe down. You'll see the quick settings. 
Make sure that Screen Wake (light bulb) is on. Don't Disturb and sleep mode should be off. 
To change a setting just tap on it.
