Why has fitbit suddenly, without warning to my knowledge, changed the value of food from calories to kilojules? Not impressed.

You can change them back.

See How do I change the units of measurement on my Fitbit device?

Apparently some people in some areas preferred kilojoules but they were not available.

So Fitbit added them as an option and seems to have gone overboard automatically switching people to them.
