I updated exercise type but steps don't display on Dashboard

I have a Fitbit Inspire.  In many cases if I increase my activity, the dashboard records  that I've gone "outdoor biking"...when in fact I've mowed my lawn.  (with lots of steps counted).  The dashboard displays Outdoor biking with no steps. I'd like to change that exercise to "Mow Lawn" and include the steps that were logged on the dashboard display.   If I change the exercise type in the dashboard it does not update..    How to fix?

Thank you for visiting the Fitbit Community, @lkeyes.

Thanks for the information provided.

In this case there is no option to recover those steps after editing the activity because the exercise Outdoor Biking has locked them.

As an alternative you can manually add steps to your Fitbit account if you go to the online Dashboard here and scroll down to the bottom. Activities like walking, running or hiking allow you to choose steps instead of distance.
