I tried to change my email to my current email address but is says another user is currently using that email is there a way to delete that account and start over again

Yes, you need to log into the other account, previously created by you.
Then under settings their is the option to delete. Fitbit gives, I think 30 days to change your mind.
You may need to use the recover the password option.
The second option is to contact fitbit and ask them to delete.
Then you will be able to change the email assoiciated with the account.
Third option would be to simply use this other account.
