Poor group crossover support

This week, I started a Group on my phone app, and have added 11 members to it.  In the app, there is no way to track steps or really do anything within the group other than trash talk.  So I log onto my dashboard to see what I can do from a desktop.  Imagine my surprise when I find that groups created in the app do not cross over into your dashboard and it doesn't even exist.  Why is this?  Do I have to recreate the group and invite everyone again from the desktop to see any meaningful stats?

They are two separate groups. Web based can only be viewed on the web. App can only be viewed on the app
