Cals in Vs Cals out

Ok so I've seen a few Topics open about this.

I hope this clarifies a few things. To put it in lamens terms ( cause it took me a minute to figure out )...

Sorry it's lengthy. This is my take on things, may be incorrect. This is how I understood it.

My Stats:

In - 820 ( food consumption )

Out - 1429 (cals burned)

Left - 395 ( left to eat assuming your active until midnight )

Deficit - 1000 ( 1,000 calories burned after you subtract consumption minus cals burned for the day)

Currently my Fitbit stats say i'm In the zone. While i'm not sure what the range is; I believe that you're In the zone when your somewhere between half of your deficit (500) to hitting the deficit (1000). Do not be concerned if you go in and out of the zone through out the day as this will only matter when your done for the day (since fitbit resets at 12 AM).

Mine would be bewteen 500 to 1000 cals burned after subtracting ( Out - In ).

Example:  In 820 - Out 1429 = 609 calories burned after consumption.

- This stays within the range stated before (500 to 1000).

The jist of what I took from researching is that; your amount of cals left are irrelevant. As long as your total burned cals equal your deficit, once you subtract your In vs Out.

* Basically...

- if you eat 1,000 cals

- you've burned cals 2,000

- and your deficit is 1,000

- and it's 11:59 PM (since fitbit resets at 12 AM).

Assuming your active until midnight or your ready for bed before midnight.

Your total amount of cals burned should be...

  2,000 Total Cals Burned

- 1,000 Cals Consumed

-------------------------------------

= 1,000 Cals Burned After Consumption aka your Deficit

* The person burned 1,000 cals past what was consumed.

* Which is what the deficit is.

Hope this helped.

When I read it I understand but I am STILL confused as to the "left" meaning.

Right now, mine says:

200 in

1,277 out

491 left

If I am understanding 491 left meaning "remaining" 491+200=691 that can't be my daily total cals.

As for 1,277, walked fast for one hour but you don't "burn" that many calories in one hour so what does "out" mean?
Thank you
