Hi there,

My flex 2 goes flat real quick. Unbelievably quick. There seems to be a lot

Of people with similar but different issues.

Can any suggest anything other than going to Garmin?

Hi, @Slotback, as I expect you know, all Lithium ion batteries such as in Fitbits (and Garmins!) have a limited number of recharges that they can accept before they begin to deteriorate.  How quickly this happens partly depends on how well it has been looked after - the battery will deteriorate much more quickly if it is allowed often to discharge completely.  Keeping your battery between 20-80% charged as much as possible will prolong its life.  In addition, the smaller the battery, the shorter its expected life span.

Having said that, the Flex 2 is a much older device know, so significant deterioration in battery life is likely even if it was perfectly looked after.  You could try giving it a restart - instructions here - as a restart will sometimes help as it will shut down any background activities causing unusual battery drain.  You might also try cleaning the contacts - instructions  - which also might help, but I think the most likely explanantion is that, sadly, your Fitbit friend may be coming towards the end of its useful life.

As I mentioned above, it is certain that this will affect any brand tracking device, or other battery operated device!  Having tried a Garmin myself (though admittedly not verŷ recently) I found their app not nearly as user friendly as Fitbits, and syncing was a nightmare.  That's why I switched to Fitbit.

If you would like to stay with Fitbit, I would suggest an upgrade to the Inspire series.  The Inspire has a lot of improved features from the Flex (I like having the HR feature, personally) with almost as small a profile as the Flex and some lovely bracelets that make it look quite discrete.  And, of course, it has a watch feature, so you don't need to where a second device.  It can also be worn on the wrist or somewhere on your body and still count steps.  I have to admit I love mine - but, of course, everyone's different.

I hope this helps!
