How long did your Flex last before it died?

I was wondering how long do fitbits last before they die, in terms of steps and length of ownership.

I currently own a Fitbit Flex for about 18 months and have logged over 5.5 Million steps. I'm on my 3rd band. I was thinking about upgrading to a charge HR since they have a $50 trade in promotion at the microsoft store. I like the automatic sleep function on the Charge HR, but don't like that you can't change the band.

You’re one of the lucky few so far passing the standard 3-yr shelf life for most electronics...

Try restarting your FitBit. If that doesn't fix it, you might want to
call customer service.

My Charge 3 lasted about 18 months. Refuses to synch or upgrade versions. Also display is too dim to read in any lighting.

That's sad to hear. That is what I just bought. I tried to buy a Charge 2
again but it is under a "Do Not Sell" order from FitBit so I couldn't get
another.

Hi there,

I love my fitbit Alta - and it is out of warrant.  It still tells time, but seems to calculate my movements far too high.    How can I tell if it is still working?

This is my first Fitbit device. I also have the Versa. I died suddenly with a full charge after 19 months. Fitbit support offered me a 25% discount, but I'm hesitant on getting another. For a $200 watch, I would expect to get more out of it than that. I'm looking into getting a Garmin. They can be on the pricey end because there are a heck of a lot of features, but there are reasonably priced models too. If you know what features you can live without, you can pay for a cheaper model. They are also made specifically with runners in mind. My friends who have them love it.

I have been using FitBit since 2014 and I started with a Surge  that gave me a skin rash. I exchanged it for a Charge 2. It has finally died. Looks like the battery finally gave up. It was getting weak and I had to recharge it every other day.

I have a Charge 3 on Order. I guess 6 years isn't too bad  a record. I saw how to replace the battery using a $20 replacement battery on YouTube. I may try that. it takes a heat gum, jeweler's screwdrivers and a soldering iron. It looks like a very delicate operation.

Only 9 months??  I would call customer service. They might replace it!  Or they should replace it

I've got Versa lite now and the screen was unglued when I woke up, about 6-8 months old. I've had charge, flex, returned alta and inspire for lack of features and terrible alarm you couldn't feel. I even bought my last 2 charges on ebay after they discontinued. Probably 6 styles and over 6 watches in 5 years. First ones lasted the longest, 1-1.3 years I believe, most are 6-9 months. I don't use mine in water besides hand and dish washing and clean off regularly.

I have a Charge 2 that I bought about 1 ½ years ago. Only problem was I had
to reboot my computer every so often to get it to sync. Last evening after
three hours of charging it was still flat. Left it to charge overnight and
it is flat. Not charging. Will check if there is a correction for this but
after the first Fit Bits (5) didn’t last even a year I won’t hold my breath
and won’t be buying another.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 45S, and so far, I really like it. It isn't a touchscreen, though. If that is of utmost importance to you, then don't get that model. I love that it has built-in GPS, so you don't need to carry your phone around for that. It uses satellite GPS for accuracy. I found that my fitbit was seriously inaccurate with that. It would basically make me look like an Olympic track star after some of my running workouts. Another great feature is that it has live tracking of your workouts. If you activate it, certain people will be aware of your location during your workout. If something bad happens, they can locate you. It also has an assistance button that will allow your watch to send help if you are in trouble. If you are a runner that runs outside, this watch is amazing. It doesn't track food. You have to download a separate app for that. Sent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device

*Negative experience

1.lasted four months

:I purchased my versa last May 2019 for my birthday. It wouldn't turn on and I got a replacement around september(I had only used it for four months).

2: second replacement lasted eight months

:Now, it’s June2020, two days ago I woke up and my watch was pitch black. I tried every troubleshooting methods and it still remained off. Now I’m a month past my warranty period, I called the support line, they said they couldn’t replace it even though it’s very much their technical issues. One year two watches? As a student, this is an overwhelming expense and definitely not what I paid +$250 for. 🤦🏻‍:female_sign:🤦🏻‍:female_sign: For the amount of money it caused me and will cause me as well as the stress and inconvenience it brings me, I’m terribly disappointed and sad about this since I can’t just take $250 more out of my wallet again for a watch.

I was wondering the same thing the longest I’ve had a battery last is 18 months.  Mostly mid have died in about a year. I think for me it’s time to look at an Apple Watch.

I’ve had my Charge 2 since 2016, so about 4 years and it’s still in pretty good condition. I tend to only charge it when it gives me a notification when it’s at 20% and it tends to last about 1 week, maybe a bit more.

My watch was the last birthday present my mom bought for me before she passed away from complications from coronavirus, and I agree with you - not everyone has the money to just go out and buy another watch. Mine was bought in mid 2018 and I expected it to last four years anyway, but it had display problems from the first (which I complained about on the forum.)

The company sent email about how they had high product standards, etc, etc. I just don't understand why a conventional watch can last for decades but a smartwatch start having problems within months of buying it. There are YouTube videos about the problem. I guess I will get a cheaper smart watch since I can't afford to throw more money down the drain!
