Cleaning your Flex to resolve charging issues

SOLVED
Highlighted

Hey I am Craig Raper And have been using fitibit products since June of 2010. I have become an avid follower and watcher of all the fitbit products and when  I newer model comes out being the fitbit junkie if I feel I can enjoy it I buy it. I am career fighter and love these units and treat them as rough as anyone so I do have to learn up keep in a hurry. The simple cleaning technique in the video below has been used for years on electronincs including the same portbale radios and pagers I use on the job. Hope this video helps and please feel free to ask for further help in the fitbit flex help area. Thanks and happy fitbitting.

The following video demonstrates how to clean your Flex using rubbing alcohol and some common household items. This can help resolve charging issues, and get your Flex working properly again.

@Craig Thank you so much for taking the time to put this video together, and for sharing your experience in troubleshooting the Flex!

Fitbit is continually working to ensure that all Flex users are able to charge and use their trackers without issue. We recommend that anyone who has encountered difficulty charging should watch this video and clean their device as described. We have found that cleaning the metal contacts on your tracker and its charging cable will often resolve any charging issues, and get things working normally again.

If you still have trouble after cleaning your device's contacts, please consult the other troubleshoots in this help article, and then contact our Support Team at http://contact.fitbit.com for further assistance. We will do everything we can to get you back up and running quickly.

Matthew:

I'm not having an issue charging my Fitbit; I'm having an issue with the Fitbit *holding* a charge. It doesn't stay charged for more than 3 hours... and it gets worse every day so I've just stopped using it (it's 35 days old).

I emailed you guys 3 days ago. Still no reply. What gives? This is not only a product fail, but a customer service nightmare.

Thanks for the reply, Craig. I did get a confirmation/ticket number. It took the Fitbit folks 4 days to respond, and they've instructed me to clean the unit (which I've already done). We'll see how long it takes them to repond with next steps. I'm hopeful but tired of waiting....

Once you are in the system and going the replies shouldn't take as long. Hopefully you told them you had used the video on here. Maybe team fitbit can slowly get email tech support to start send people to this link to find the video or directly to the video. Please keep us posted @CMDH

Thanks

WOW!!!! I returned my 1st flex because of charging issues( each of the 8 charging session were  a struggle) and all it probably needed was a good cleaning. Thank you so much for this video. I followed your instructions, hooked  the charger up to my computer and within 15 minutes,  I have 2 lights flashing  . I had it charging for 4 hours this afternoon, with a paperclip jammed in to keep unit tight, and it never charged due to the dirty contacts . Thank you so much Craig for making this video.  : )
