12 Days of Fitness 2019

For the past couple of years my gym has run a 12 days of fitness challenge and I've posted here for all to join in.  You can start this whenever you see it.  The basic idea is on the first day of Fitness you do the first challenge.  On the second day you do the second challenge AND the first challenge, on the third day you do ... well, pretty much like the 12 days of Christmas song that you know from Bob and Doug McKenzie of Second City TV fame.

And ... we are off!

On the first day of Christmas @Baltoscott gave to me one minute of push-ups.  (If you can't do regular push-ups, try doing incline push-ups (push-up from a table) or use risers as show in this video).

I will try to keep up with this!  My only issue is I don't have a computer at home, so I only see this on weekdays lol.  I've at least completed this first day; modified but did it 😋

Looks like we are off to a good start.  I added a link in the first post to one of my favorite versions of the 12 days of Christmas song.

I'll add the Second Day of Fitness when I get home this evening.

@WendyB  I do, but it's hard to navigate the website without accidentally clicking everything but what I want.  I should probably buy a new laptop (mine is from 2008, and hasn't been on in two years).  It connects to my router but won't pull internet.  What trips me up is I can't decide if I want to make the final switch to Mac, or buy another Windows.

I've done the modified push-ups for the day.  I'll have to work on the plank when I get home.  My office floor has too much dirt and who knows what 🤢

@Baltoscott  Is this what you mean by a Break?

Its all I can find as I cant get down on the floor

Never mind I googled standing plank and that's what I will do

@WendyB - No that's not what I meant, but what a great link for us office workers.  I've added it to my 'saved' list on YouTube.  Thanks!

I meant that I can't hold a plank for two minutes, so I do it for one minute, then rest about 30 seconds, and then do it for another minute.  Standing Plank (leaning against the wall with your legs progressively further out as you get stronger) sounds good if you can't get down on the floor.  Another (non-floor) variation for planks and push-ups might be leaning into a counter or table.

@SteppingBooks -- I will put the next three days in a single post later this afternoon so you can stay on track through the weekend and plan for Monday.

On the fourth day of Christmas @Baltoscott gave to me

  • minute of push-ups.  (If you can't do regular push-ups, try doing incline push-ups (push-up from a table) or use risers as show in this video).
  • 2 minutes of Planks (any kind; breaks are OK)
  • 3 minutes of Wall Sits (option - Stability Ball Wall Sits; breaks are OK)
  • 4 minutes of Jump Rope (option Farmer’s Carry)

Whew!  This is getting crazy!  That's 10 minutes for the first four exercises!

Thankfully, on day 5 we will move to counting reps doing the exercise instead of minutes,
