12 Days of Fitness 2019

For the past couple of years my gym has run a 12 days of fitness challenge and I've posted here for all to join in.  You can start this whenever you see it.  The basic idea is on the first day of Fitness you do the first challenge.  On the second day you do the second challenge AND the first challenge, on the third day you do ... well, pretty much like the 12 days of Christmas song that you know from Bob and Doug McKenzie of Second City TV fame.

 

And ... we are off!

 

On the first day of Christmas @Baltoscott gave to me one minute of push-ups.  (If you can't do regular push-ups, try doing incline push-ups (push-up from a table) or use risers as show in this video).

On the fifth day of Christmas @Baltoscott gave to me

 

  • minute of push-ups.  (If you can't do regular push-ups, try doing incline push-ups (push-up from a table) or use risers as show in this video).
  • 2 minutes of Planks (any kind; breaks are OK)
  • 3 minutes of Wall Sits (option - Stability Ball Wall Sits; breaks are OK)
  • 4 minutes of Jump Rope (option Farmer’s Carry)
  • 5 squats with 5 Pulses at the bottom

So on 4 minutes what are you guys doing? Jump rope or farmer's carry?  I've been doing the farmer's carry hauling weights around the gym.

  • minute of push-ups - 6 minutes push ups. 
  • 2 minutes of Planks  - 10 minutes plank
  • 3 minutes of Wall Sits - 3 minutes wall sits
  • 4 minutes of Jump Rope 
  • 10 minutes farmers carry - 20kg
  • 5 squats with 5 Pulses - 100 squats (5 sets of 20 squats) (5 sets of 5 pulses in 2nd half of each squat set)

My muscles are feeling every inch of that work out. 1.5 hours of weights in total. Lots of weights and reps included.

@Baltoscott  Thank you!  Unfortunately I have an eventful weekend that is resulting in my gramma now having to be placed in a nursing home.  I'm not sure how much time I'm going to have after work for doing challenges while they're holding her in hospital until a bed opens.  I'm going to keep trying though!  

 

@WendyB Haha, thank you.   I may try to set it up so it pulls up the specific screen, rather than try to click through everything. 

 

Plank is hard for me to do in more than 30 seconds at a time, but I will keep at it.  I actually do the wall-sits through out the day oddly enough.  While talking to my coworker even.  They've learned to overlook my oddities.

Moving your gramma over the holidays is bound to be stressful @SteppingBooks.  Maybe you can amuse her when you visit her in the hospital by doing your wall sits as you visit 🙂

It was a busy day at work and couldn't get all the routine done before I had to start going to meetings.  So I did 1, 2 in my office right after I got there, and worked on the rest when I had time throughout the day.  Fortunate to belong to a gym in the building so I could go down their to knock out 6 Arnold Presses without changing clothes!

@Baltoscott   Yeah.  Problem is, she doesn't even really know it's the holidays.  Her world is so small.  Her focus is picking the hairs off her sweater for an hour (and there were no hairs).  It's rough to watch.  

 

I'm doing bad with keeping up in doing some of these.  I did get the 1 minute of mod. push-ups, 3 minutes of wall sits, and 5 squats with pulse yesterday.

Day 6 - Ehhh.  1 min mod-push up, 3 min wall sits, 5 squats with pulses.  

 

I had to get impromptu blood work after work and they reminded me about not using that arm for lifting/etc. for at least an hour (and then I honestly forgot to do the rest).

Day 7 - 1 min mod push ups, 3 minutes wall sits, 5 Squat pulses (on 10 of my squats I managed the 5 pulse).  

 

Unfortunately I think I am getting sick, so I may have to cut back and focus on not having this go to bronchitis.

1 minute of push-ups (10 push ups x 5 sets)
2 minutes of Planks (5 sets of 2 minutes each)
3 Minutes wall (5 sets)
4 minutes of Farmer’s Carry (alternated with planks x 5 sets
5 squats with 5 Pulses (100 squats, 50 triple pulses)
6 Arnold Presses (12 x 5 sets)
7 Renegade rows (12 x 5 sets)

8 weighted step ups - 5kg weights (12 x 5 sets)

 

I quite like these. They fit well within my workouts. Giving a good extra 30 minutes work out in addition to weights
