I am a female, 17 years old. For the past 3 weeks I haven’t been able to exercise properly and my eating habits were really bad. My resting heart rate is much higher than it used to be, it’s 85 right now. Today I ran 2 miles on the treadmill at a 6 m/h pace and my heart rate got to 192. It stayed in the peak zone for 17 minutes. I was wondering if that is dangerous and if I am going to have any consequences for reaching the heart rate that high? I’m worried.

Hello @jufloresc
I would consider 192 as high. I really think you should discuss this with your doctor because they of course would be better suited to give medical advice and discuss what is healthy for you based on age/sex/weight etc. The beauty of having the Fitbit app is that because it’s been measuring it for you I would show your doctor what you see on your app. I hope you do find an answer to your question but I would be be super careful accepting medical type advice for anyone other than you doctor. 😃

Hi @jufloresc this is something you might want to talk to your health care professional about. It really depends on many factors, such as your general health, height and weight, etc. Have you discussed your concerns with your parents? It might be a good idea to let them know and to schedule a visit to your doctor or nurse to address your concerns. It's good you're keeping an eye on your heart rate. You're in school and probably getting used to things. You'll get a better routine going, if you keep at it. Glad you're with us.

Your conservatively calculated maximum (220 - age) is still more than 10 points above the maximum you report. And, what does "got up to" mean? What was the average heart rate over the two miles? I don't really see any problem with being in the lower half of the "Peak" zone for extended periods. However, I might be more concerned if you were above the calculated maximum (possible for most people) for a significant period of time. As pointed out above, my interpretation only - confirm it elsewhere.
