Only steps counted by the fitbit itself are used towards badges, so if you manually entered something, those steps don't count for badges.

Mine were all counted by my fitbit - never entered any manually - oh well, I'm just going to have to do it again, I guess.  I did use the new GPS feature, but it's still counting my steps with the fitbit, not entered manually?

I wonder if this is related to the badges being awarded in error. They may have stopped some of them from being awarded while they fix the bug.

Yeah, I don't know what happened, but somewhere I lost like 540 steps, so it took me down under 20,000 steps for that day, but I just figured I would do it again and last night did 23,500 steps - and I didn't use the activity tracker at all... Now I just need to get my next goal of 25,000 steps  Smiley Wink

I've had over 20,000 steps (NONE entered manually) three different times and have never received my 20,000 step badge.  Exactly how many steps do you have to walk to get your 20,000 step badge since it's clearly not 20,000??

congratulations to those of you who got your 20,000 steps in.  That's quite an accomplishment even if you didn't get a badge.  The most I've ever gotten is around 17,000 and it was a pretty active day.

If you are using the GPS app on the phone there does seem to be a problem.

It awarded 40,000 when i hit 40k but didnt get a 45,000 badge.  I only added swimming and biking both knowingly no steps toward total.

I've gotten over 20,000 steps in a day a few times now, without manually inputting any steps, and I'm still waiting on my badge. On my profile, it shows my best day as being 18k but looking back on the days that I did get over 20k steps, it says the correct step amount there.

Never ever turn on the exercise button. For some reason, when you turn it on, it activates the GPS which will count your steps as manual steps and therefore not count them toward your badge. If you want to use GPS, download the Nike running app. I use it to track distance and the GPS, and use my Fitbit to track my steps. It's pathetic that they have not fixed this bug.

Hey hey hey, thanks for stopping by @gscheid @kaelarenee7 @cyndih! For information about earning badges, I would recommend checking out this post. If you have actually recorded your steps with your tracker and didn't receive a badge please let me know so I can further investigate. Robot wink
