Interested in graduating from a dedicated walker to a runner? Great article today!
I walk at least 5k (three laps at our local park) every evening, will put the suggestion to practice, anyone else out there find this sensical and going to give it a go?
Keep moving. I'll keep you posted how it goes for me.

Sounds good! I walk about a half hour in the morning. Going to incorporate some 30 second runs to get me started tomorrow.

I've always hated running just to run, but never had a problem if a sport was incorporated.
The best thing that I've ever done was bring home a rescue dog in the working class breed (Shepard mix). At a walking speed, she would always pull me crazy, at a jog she was perfect. So I just went until I couldn't, walked a bit (while she sniffed and whatever dogs do) then repeat. Gradually it built itself up to where she slows us down (not me).
We also refuse to run at temps over 90 and below 20.

Exactly my resistance @Mukluk4, I ran in high school (many, many decades ago) and my son does marathons weekly today; for me, walking has become fun and running boring - I'm looking forward to finding out if a hybrid of the two can break that resistance and allow me to get even healthier. I have a Plott Hound with the same personality of your Shepard, she likes quick pace and tugs at normal pace, these "bursts" might just be the solution - thanks!
