A very strange resting heart rate.

(I'm not sure if I should put this in mind and body or this fourm - i'm a new user - so I put this in both.)

Hello!

I just got my Inspire 3 set up this morning. I checked my heart rate when I was sitting and it was . . . 104. I've checked it repeatedly and it's never dipped bellow 100. I'm on my schools x country team and I'm an active person, so I thought that my resting heart rate would be rather low instead of sky-high. I don't drink caffeine at all. I've heard that adhd medicine (I take methylphenidate) can raise your heart rate, but 100+ seems like a lot. While I'm writing this it's 107. Am I ok? Thanks!

Have you ever manually checked you own pulse by feeling it at your own wrist and watching a clock, or had that done at a physical?  Ever had a physical exam?

I think I read my pulse like that once or twice, I don't remember what it was but I do remember that it was high. I had to get an ekg at the cardiologist since the doctor was concerned about my heart rate, the cardiologist said I was fine even though it was high.

Part of my point was just that the fitbit HR reading is not necessarily always accurate, but if you have been told you have a high heart rate before, it is probably true. With the little I know about your situation, I'm certainly not going to contradict what a cardiologist once told you.  But without knowing anything more about your situation, including age, whenever in doubt it is always safer to get a doctor's or nurse's opinion or advice.

Ok! I'll ask about it the next time I go to the doctor. ( I am 13 btw)

For that age, it's not really much above expected.  It will drop as you get older.  I'd say nothing to worry about, but still better to ask health professional next visit, if only to reassure yourself.  It probably drops lower as you sleep, which you will be able to see in a chart on your phone app.
Try to enjoy all the new info available without worrying about all the details too much yet!
