It's likely as accurate as whatever it's using for your BMI. Your BMI is most of the calories you burn in a day and is things like breathing, circulating blood, maintaining body temperature and such. FitBit seems to use about 1750 for me where 1500 seems like it would be more accurate. Regrettably there's no right number for all people and you can't set it manually.
