Hi everybody,
I was just wondering if anybody has been able to cure his/her acid reflux (or GERD)? And how?
I am struggling with severe symptoms and have tried a lot over the years but feel really stuck right now. I have tried various medications, undergo a big lifestyle change and I can't notice much of a difference. Any success stories would be much appreciated. 🙂 ❤️ Birdy

NEXIUM? Nexium, is the brand name of esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid production.
Pancreatic enzymes are Amalayse, Lipase, and Protease

Yes I totally agree with you Dave. Nexium is one of the things to stay away from especially long term.
Just an update on how things are going. I now know that I need HCL + Pepsin also. My routine is take the enzymes 15 min before my meal including snacks. half a tablet of HCL + Pepsin before the meal and the other half at the end. If it is a high protein meal then a half tablet of HCL + Pepsin in the middle of the meal. Taking a full tablet at once was too much. At lot of experimenting and a lot of pain but this seems to be working. Taking a day off food every now and again to give my gut a rest has also helped. I'm looking forward to getting a good stool sample result. All of my previous results have been shocking no matter what diets I went on. The poor results were because of bad digestion, acid reflux was the symptom.

Try taking the HCl midway through the meal or at the end. I've read that taking it prior can actually turn off the natural secretion of stomach acid and can also make you lose your appetite. I never found much help from taking enzymes.

Did you take Betaine HCL with every meal or just meals where you had meat?? Just curious, because I would like to take it, but not sure how to start. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I want to share my experience with reflux in case it can help anyone.
5 years ago, despite being on PPIs (rabeprazole) my symptoms went out of control. I ramped up the dose up to 2 tablets per day, no response. I changed to a less acidic water, also nothing. I took any fats and fried stuff from my diet with no positive result. I was pretty desperate to the point that I started to search about surgical options. After hours and hours of googling all sorts of stuff over many days, I came across a forum in which someone shared what he found to be the remedy: GINGER !!!
I had nothing to loose so I rushed to the grocery store, bought some, and cut a piece and ate it raw. The effect was amazing since it took away the acid reflux in literally a couple of minutes.
During this 5 years I have been taking ginger 2x / day. I prepare a large quantity by slicing it, boiling it and then caramelizing it (you can find recipes online). It has worked REALLY well for me. I still take rabeprazole but once every 2 - 3 days, symptoms are almost gone, I eat pretty much everything except for strong alcohol (spirits, etc.), and the good results have also shown in my endoscopies in terms of a significant reduction of inflammation in the esophagus.
I may or not work for you since as you know it is a very tricky condition in which there are no 2 patients that are the same, but it is accessible, healthy, and easy, so nothing to loose.
If it would only work for one of you I would be very happy.
Good luck and stay healthy !
