I am a new fitbit user. I just started using it on Friday evening. My question: Do I still have to enter in certain activities? Or will adding in Activities count as extra steps? Or does the fitbit record and enter the activities that I have completed? And if I am wanting to record distances and times does the fitbit do that as well, or should I continue to use my garminfit tracker?

Most people let Fitbit track steps-based activities (walking, running, housework, yard work, dancing, etc.) and if they want the calorie burn for other types of exercise (cycling, weights, yoga, etc.) they log those manually. Your Fitbit tracks distance, too. When you manually log an activity, it's not double counting because it overwrites the data the Fitbit recorded during that time. Though I don't think it overrides recorded steps unless you log an activity like 'riding in a vehicle'. But the calorie count is adjusted.
I'm not familiar with your Garmin but if you prefer the stats from that there may be apps that both devices use that allow sharing of data between them.

Your Garmin will always be more accurate for distances, as (I assume) it derives them from GPS, while Fitbit calculates them as steps x stride length.
In fact, you may want to record the same activities in both Garmin and Fitbit, and then use distances from Garmin and step counts from Fitbit in order to determine your average stride length.
