Activity vs exercise

I am trying to understand the activity part. If I need my active minutes to be logged as exercise I would need to manually add this?

For active minutes, whatever you are doing needs to be intense enough:

You can earn active minutes one minute at a time. You don’t need to log your activity as exercises in order to earn active minutes.

For exercises (e.g. exercises that count towards the weekly exercise goal), their duration needs to be 15 minutes for them to be autodetected by the SmartTrack feature:

If exercises are logged manually, their duration can be shorter.
