Alta and Motorola X Play not syncing

I just starting have an issue with my alta. I went for a walk yesterday and wanted to see how many miles I went but in the top right of the app it shows the alta and next is a picture of a battery in red. When I try to sync it just says it's "looking" I fully charged the alta last night and it's still doing the same thing and won't sync. Any ideas what's going on?  Thanks

Often, restarting the phone will resolve this issue.
