Anyone here see a chiropractor?

I had hip/low back/ lower leg pain for a week-10 days and decided enough was enough and made an appointment with a chiropractor.  My husband had seen one last year and it did him worlds of good.  I went, and one adjustment session, I was so much better, unbelieveable.  (It's a strange thing to have done, weirdly intimate and uncomfortable, but not painful.)

Yesterday I go for follow up and session two, but I felt GREAT.  Even after working all day in a Sp. Ed. classroom, stress, on the go, etc, I had NO pain.  He's like oh that's great, but you need 6 to 10 weeks of adjustments to fix you. Hmm, I don't feel broken.  So okay, go ahead.  An hour after leaving there I have pain in my upper back (never had before) across my shoulders. He 'popped' that area 3 times pretty hard.  It still hurts this morning, about 12 hours later.  I'm not okay with going to a person for help with pain, and leaving feeling worse than when I went in. I'm wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience, is this normal?  Seriously considering not going back.  Hip and lower back feel great now, by the way.

If I were you I would definitely keep going and take their recommendations.  I have had chiropratic care for well over 10 years.  I've found two important traits; have the right care and use their recommendations.  The continuous visits in the first couple months help get and keep everything in line.  After you have a few visits that little adjustment is needed they are likely to reduce your needed visits.  Good luck and stick with it!

I elected to go to neurosurgeon instead of a chiropractor to determine the cause of my continuous lower back and leg pain. After a series of x-rays and ctscans, the doctor found that in addition to other problems with ruptured disks, etc, that my L5 vertebrae had slipped out of place and was pinching nerves. I underwent serious spince surgery to correct it, and have been totally pain free since. I am glad I did not risk more injury to that pinched nerve, and got it fixed correctly.

I have been seeing a Chiropractor for 2 years, since a car accident left me with back and neck pain.  It was a slow process so don't give up.  I am massively better now, and very rarely get pack or neck pain, and am now going every couple of weeks just to keep in good shape.  I thoroughly recommend it!

I was having upper back pack, along with issues in my shoulders.  Come to find out I have degenerative disk disease in 3 vertebra, (neck, between my shoulders and lower back)  I was exactly the same as you.  I saw my chiropractor 3X a week for 10 weeks. The first time I felt awesome after, no pain.. the "popping" was a little weird, also the closeness (LOL), but I felt great.  Little aches (sometimes more than little) and pains that were not there before started sliding in.  I made sure to tell my chiropractor about these.  His recommendations, ICE, ICE and MORE ICE and more adjustment  I hate cold compresses but followed instructions and it  got better.  Now I just go in once a month for a little adjustment an monitoring to make sure everything is doing ok.

I am so glad that I chose to heal my body naturally rather than going the surgical route.

I understand the principals of what he's doing, the 'realigning' me or whatever.  And I guess I understand that it has to be a gradual process, over weeks.  Where I keep coming up short is the hurting in places I didn't hurt before.  I know it's all connected, that in order to completely re-align me it all has to be (forcefully) put back in place. It's just that 3 days later it still hurts where it didn't before.  I guess I'm from the old school 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' school, lol.

Your body will thank you in the long run, I promise.  I had the same issue while I was getting aligned.  I had things that hurt that weren't hurting before.  I almost gave up too. But it was worth it in the end to have everything in order.

My body was like a car that ran pretty well, but not quite right.  This was just the tweek I needed to get healthier.  Your back has the nerves that travel and control several other things; sinuses, balance, headaches, mood.   I didn't want a lifetime of medications or any more surgeries to correct something that just took some time.

I did for a year before I was diagnosed with lung cancer, which I beat thanks be to The Almighty! I miss him so much, can't wait to get back to going. Insurance won't cover it and things are a little tight right now. But I've had lifelong back problems had recently been diagnosed with bursitis of the hips and arthritis in my knee and going to him and committing to a stretching routine he gave me helped so much. I continue to stretch but not getting the same result as when I did it and saw him. It's the only thing that worked!

In 2020 u can find online a good one. I know that the back pain it is a very unpleasant thing because you cannot do anything normally, every move is supported by grief. The procedures by chiropractor can solve this pain but is very difficult to find a good doctor. I can suggest you to check https://teamalliedpw.com/ , there I found a good chiropractor... he helped to me and helped my brother to make a rehabilitation after a auto accident. After 3 months he was back to his normal active life.

Yes, I have had to use a chiropractor for years and yes they do work wonders and sometimes you will have pain. Remember you are being adjusted to get spine, hips, neck to realign. I would let your chiro know about the pain for his/her recommendations. Also I know drinking water after is supposed to be helpful but I can't remember why. I have bulging disks which make it painful to walk long enough to get 10000 steps in. I am hoping for alternate ways to get my steps in. I hope this helps.

Do not worry, they are specialists and they know what they are doing. I had one accident and that gave me back pains, sometimes I could not even breathe. After some investigations, I have got my diagnosis. The accident moved two parts and there was something growing (sorry not a specialist). They also found the consequences of some childhood trauma. Long story short, the told me to go for chiropractic care. After the first session, I had such pains! You know, I was used only with relaxing massage, not with that! Not only my boons, but even the skin was hurting! But besides the pain, I could finally move. No pain! In combination with yoga, it worked amazingly for me. Hope you will get well soon.

Hi everyone, it's amazing how chiropractors have helped us to avoid chronic pain.

@anonymous1989. I'm glad to hear that you are feeling great now.

I wonder if any of you guys have heard about Ozone Therapy and if it's dangerous as some websites' articles state.
