Are steps obtained on my recumbent stationary bike as productive as normal walking?

Guess the subject is actually my question!

I would log both in an activity database and see how they stack up there.  I think it depends on a lot of things, including the resistance setting on the bike.  In general, walking steps tend to be more demanding because you're also holding yourself upright at the time.

Thanks Mary, that's what I thought. Your suggestion of comparison of activity is a good one. I can check to see if I have the bike set at the appropriate tension. Have to say, I actually get more tired and "feel the burn" a little bit more on the bike. Probably because muscles are used differently. Thanks again.
