Bad backs!

Hello!

Was wondering if you can help. I have 2 bulging discs in my lower back and this, after a lot of movement, will put pressure on my spinal cord and cause my left leg to get pins and needles and then go numb. (It honestly reads a lot worse then it is) While I stretch before I set off anywhere, is there any particular person I should research that can help? My own doc thinks what I'm doing is enough but I feel myself it isn't.

Thanks guys.

Good day, with all you have said I would advice you listen to your doctor but if you want more, you can write me and I would tell you something

Smiley21:  Consult a Physical Therapist that is familiar with the Robin Mckenzie approach.  In summary any movement that causes increased distal leg pain is to be avoided.  Since most disc bulging is caused by flexion, he recommends extension as long as it does not increase pain in the leg going distally.  Also avoid all flexion in the morning since after sleeping all night the disc imbibes fluid, thus flexion will increase posterior pressure on the disc causing more bulging. If extension causes the leg pain to centralize( move toward the center of the back) then it is reducing the bulge.  Good luck!

@SunsetRunner I'm sorry about your condition. I have a lumbar hernia and I had to visit a Physical Therapist and a Chiropractor as well. I'd recommend to visit one of those too and avoid doing exercises that cause pain since you can get a dangerous injury as @Corney mentioned.

Hope you are well and stay safe.
