I got certified in March to teach Bokwa and started teaching three times a week in June. You can burn up to 1200 calories in an hour. It's one of the most fun dance fitness programs I've found. The way it works is we do a continuous hour of super fun music (electronic, hip-hop, pop) and move to shapes and letters (and numbers in higher levels). Level one has letters like the Bokwa C, Bokwa L, Bokwa J, etc.
I highly recommend it if you're tired of other group fitness programs like Zumba and want something that's new and fun.
I do have a question though for people who do high impact or repetitive jumping exercising. I've always dealt with plantar fasciitis ever since playing volleyball in college, but I've recently developed what I think might be a bone spur on my heel. I can't afford the podiatrist, but I'm curious if anyone has any ideas for curbing pain while exercising? I can't stop the activity because I'm the only Bokwa instructor in my area and I've tried KT tape but it didn't work very well. The pain is sometimes unbearable.
Any ideas for relief? I also ice my feet after every class.
Thanks, y'all, and happy fitness! 😄

My dad had this awhile ago. I don't have ideas for while you are excercising but he said the best thing that helped him was stretching it really well. You put your toe on the wall with your heal on the floor and get as close to the wall with your body as possible to stretch your calf and that also stretches the tendon in your foot which helps the heal pain. He also wore a boot to keep his ankle at bent while he slept. Between the two it took the plantar fasciitis away.
