According to the following blog, the highest lifetime distance badge you can get is the "pole to pole" for 12,430 miles.

I've not reached that yet, let alone 24,000 miles!

Could it be the distance from pole to pole through the centre?

I had to look this one up. You can see from the discussion there is much dissension on the subject.

It would be nice if Fitbit provided goals that exceed what the highest Fitbit user has achieved so far. Being at the top with no further badges to earn provides less motivation.

@WavyDavey I have received ALL badges.

Last time they updated badges I also received all with nothing to work towards. Was happy when they announce it. And when I received all to offer in  five minutes was very sad 😞

Agreed.  I earned my Pole to Pole on May 4, 2014.  Nada since then.

Maybe there is a hidden Around the World one if you can do 24,000 miles in 80 days.  Smiley LOL

I am referring to the walking distance around the globe at the equator
which should approximate twice the distance from pole to pole assuming that
the earth is truly round which it is not.

Distance around the equator

24,902 miles

Distance around the earth passing through the polls

24,812 miles

Distance from one pole to the other following the surface

12,806 miles

Radius at the equator is

3,963 miles

Radius at the poles are

3,949 only 14 miles different.

So Fitbit is shorting us on the pole the poll

That would be cool, but in two years, I haven't even hit 4,000 miles yet!

I'm not surprised @DanielleinDC to get 4000 miles in two years would require doing 2 marathons a day, almost every day for this two years. One would have to walk 54 miles every day

Best Answer

@Rich_Laue That's not quite right. If you want to walk 2,000 miles in a year (365 days), you have to get about five and a half miles a day.

The earth bulges out at the equator (centrifugal forces) making it "wider than tall"...not a perfect round globe
