I'm a bit confused now, yesterday I walked a new ~5km route, today I ran almost the same route.
According to fitbit -
Walking 5.46km Pace 10'17" Cals Burned 452 (83 cals/km)
Running 5.14km pace 5'37" Cals Burned 386 (75 cals/km)
I ran a slightly different route, and walked to warm up/down hence the shorter distance.
So why did running the same route burn less calories? I know I was walking for a longer duration, but that dosn't seem enough to explain it?

@baitedbadger, calorie burn is calculated by Calories per Minute, rather than by distance. In your example the calories burned would be something like:
Walking 5.46Km @ 10'17, 55 minutes, 8.2 Cals/Min
Running 5.14Km @ 5'37, 28.2 minutes, 13.7 Cals/Min

Best AnswerI guess so, it just dosn't feel like I've burnt less calories after a 5K run 😞
