Cardio Fitness results

ANSWERED

I have a 37-41 result wheich is "Excellent for women your age".   grrrrrrr   I'm curious what the scores are for those my age (62) and younger.  I'd prefer a score not related to age but apparently that's not going to happen so I want to get a feel how I stack up against everyone else.   thanks in advance for your input!

@SunsetRunner, if you tap on the screen where your Cardio Fitness Score is shown, it will open another screen showing the fitness levels for everyone in your sex & age. Below it, it describes how the Cardio Fitness Level is calculated.  Basically, it is based on Age & Sex. If you want to know how you stack up to others, do a Google Search for Cardio Fitness Score, and you will likely find lots of tables with "averages" by sex & age.

Also, if you do a run of 10 minutes or more using the Charge 2 tracker Exrcise Mode for RUN with Connected GPS, it will display your actual Cardio Fitness Level instead of a range.

I'd love to run, but can no longer do so-impact is too high.  Would maybe interval training on a treadmill count do you think or would the gps feature be wonky cuz I'm not going an actual distance.  Good advice on the google I found this and I'm liking my results 🙂Capture.JPG

ETA:  I found a walking test "The Rockport Walking Test" that I can use the treadmill and fitbit for.   I'm curious about how accurate my score is and am competitive enough I want an actual number to beat in the future.

@SunsetRunner  The Cardio Fitness Score will give you a range as long as you are doing all kinds of activities.  Only the 10 min GPS connected run will give you a single number.  So you can exercise on your treadmill, ride a bike, or whatever you want, but you will get a range.

I upgraded to the Charge 2 from a Charge HR, so I had months of exercise data.  The app gave me my Cardio Fitness Score on the first use from all my previous data!

I have had three knee arthroscopies and I am not supposed to run.  I am satisfied with getting a range and am pretty proud of my 45-49 as a woman one month shy of 62!

AFAIK, Rockport won’t cut it for cardio fitness score as computed with your Fitbit Charge 2, but there’s an app called Digifit that supports several cardio fitness assessment methods, including Rockport:

http://www.fitdigits.com/fitness-assessments.html

I performed the Cooper Running Test with Digifit three years ago, together with a third-party heart rate monitor (this was back when no Fitbits featured HR monitoring).

However, I don’t think you can use your Fitbit with Digifit, as it cannot be paired to the app. You’ll need a standard Bluetooth HRM such as Polar etc.

The VO2Max I got with Cooper & Digifit three years ago is consistent with the Cardio Fitness Score I got with my Charge 2 this fall (I got the score after running outdoors for 11 minutes).

@Dominique Thats good to know-that you got the same score.  I did the mile on my treadmill and it also recorded the time.  I'd planned to use my stop watch for my heartrate immediately after, but it timed out too soon.  Fitbit gave me a heart rate of 134 and I just wanted to verify it with a physical count.  I think I'm 'fairly' fit but there is definite room for improvement

I wish I could run for 10 minutes but I know it will cause problems.  My hip replacement is awesome, but even jogging with the dog for short periods means pain in the thigh the next day.  Might be I just need to give it more time.   Thanks for the info, I'll head over to the digifit site and see what's what.   Oh, and Happy New Year!

Hi SunsetRunner I'm 67 and my score is 37 - 41 and "Excellent for women your age".too. I walk about 10 miles or so a day and do between 200 and 300 zone minutes daily on my fitbit charge4.  Not sure how that compares with what you are doing.  I weigh 124lbs and am 5ft 2" so am not overweight either.  Congratulations on your score.

@Clematis1   Congratulations on having a an excellent cardio fitness score.  I just want to point out that SunsetRunner is someone who has deleted their Fitbit account.  That same image and screen name are given to all users who delete their accounts.  Notice that all evidence of previous posts has disappeared, too.
