Its safe. Unfortunately there's been a lot of misinformation by conspiracy theorists regarding what they call "chemtrails". Even some of my family believe in "chemtrails" and won't read the actual science behind aircraft condensation trails (contrails).
Even if there was some kind of conspiracy, the distribution by air of any nafarious chemical would have to be much closer to ground in order to be effective on a populus (or a agricultural crop). For example, crop dusters used to have to fly quite low to effectively distribute nasty pesticides on the crops back in the bad old days. In short, the myth of "chemtrails" has been debunked by scientific fact.
