While my score isn't as good as yours, I think I do pretty well for a 70 year old female: fitness score 46, resting heart rate 59, deadlift PR 170#, (yes, as in barbell lifting), squat 101#. 😁, and I can do a 10 minute plank! Sorry about the bragging - I just couldn't resist. Love seeing people over 50 challenging themselves. Keep it up!

Whyshoshoni, looks like you are on your way! We just need to keep challenging ourselves! Oh, and most importantly, listen to your body - if it says you can do it, you can!

61 year old female, resting heart rate today was 59... cardio fitness says 33-37 (excellent). Does that seem right?  I can’t imagine scoring excellent.  I feel like I need to lose at least 40 of my 180 lbs.  I carry it well but am also the heaviest I’ve ever been. I don’t exercise much, if ever, but hope to get motivated and get those pounds off.  So 33-37 seems accurate?  New to Fitbit.

@Cindym5757: The "excellent for your age" scale is fifty shades of grey green. If you manage to shed some of the extra weight, your score will improve further. Mine usually moves up/down by 1 point for each kilogram gained/lost. If you start exercising more, this should also improve your score overtime. All the best!

Apparently resting heart rate is considered an accurate indicator of overall physical fitness. If you feel that “excellent” is not an accurate assessment of your physical condition, perhaps the FitBit is inaccurate. Are you wearing it as they recommend? Are you taking medications of any sort that would slow down your heart rate? What I tend to do is listen to my body, regardless of the medical profession’s guidelines. If you don’t feel fit, you live in that body and know it better than some table of recommendations.

Male Age 48, I am new to this fitbit and exercise in general, in fact I've not ran since school.

Familiar story, doc told me to lose weight, blood pressure. So what's the first thing someone does that works in IT? ... Yes I bought a gadget.

I've had the fitbit just 10 days, during which my cardio score has gone from 38-40 range to 48. At the same time my resting HB has dropped from 75 to 60.

That seems remarkable to me, either a week of dieting and a couple of runs has made a huge difference already, or my fitbit is playing up?

It takes longer than a couple of days to get your rhr down  try 12 months minimum

@SunsetRunnerWelcome to the forums and apologies to @fitbabcia because I replied to the wrong post..Don't be surprised at the readings you get... I'm 80 next year, cardio is 43-47 (excellent), and RHR ranges from 52-58.. I'm 10% over weight and have High Normal BP. At night my HR can get down to 38.. (All tested and OK'd by cardiologist).  You will also find that Fitbit at the RHR level will detect your body fighting colds and sniffles etc. So you will get these up and down fluctuations.  Over the last 12 months my average RHR is 55 and my average sleep HR is 56.

It uses your sleeping HR as well, as you will see in this link where Fitbit advise we wear the device at night..

For the definition of Fitness I fail, but I can walk for hours at a decent pace when required.. Never been a sprinter but a slogger.. My GP considers my health excellent, all bloods are OK, and the specialist's say I'm genetically built that way...

I have used the Blaze, Surge and now the Ionic and all have given me the same results.. My Omron BP monitor has my pulse within 1 beat of the Ionic in a resting situation.

@SunsetRunnerThanks for getting back and you are definitely on track for many healthy and fit seniors years. Well done.

16 years ago my GP retired and I decided to go with the GP my daughter was using..  He checked me over and immediately sent me for an echo cardio treadmill stress test with full Vo2Max testing..  Ironically well before Fitbit and that's when I became aware of my genetic makeup.

Well into the test, which was on a 5 degree incline on the treadmill @ 6.5kmh (4mph) the testing Dr asked me to continue over the test time, he found I was getting extra oxygen so he went for another 2 minutes..  That's when I started to find out about Vo2Max etc...

@SunsetRunnerFriend request sent and today Smiley Happy my oxygen saturation level is 98 % at 11:30am.

I'm very retired IT, and when Fitbit delayed the SPo2 etc I purchased the Oximeter and I was also using HRV so I got involved with that via Kickstarter and have my new HRV device..

Too many gadgets, but I enjoy my baselines and probably an extension of my work like, I retired at 70... I enjoy comparing these devices and keeping Fitbit "honest".
