It there a health difference between getting up to 10,000 steps non-stop and then other steps by daily activity or getting to 10,000 steps by normal daily activity with only 4 or 5 thousand steps thru continuous walking?

Hi @LFgolfers,
Welcome, and good question. The 10K daily step goal is inclusive. A continuous, planned walk counts towards the step goal. So does walking to the bathroom. A step is a step. 🙂
That said, doing continuous-style walks has the added benefit of increasing your heart rate exertion and add to your active minutes. So in terms of cardio, the continuous walking will be better. But in terms of the step goal, anything goes! Hope this helps.

Continuous exercise, kind of pushing yourself a little bit, would benefit your cardiovascular system more and continuous activity of any sort (over couch surfer) will dramatically improve your quality of life overall. You get a lot of bang for your exercise buck by doing just 30 minutes/day. Check this video out.
But getting up and moving some every hour throughout the day has a way of magically increasing your metabolism every so slightly all day long and creates the virtuous cycle of making your feel physically better so that you want to do more exercise. So I would try to work up to at least 30 minutes of continuous exercise each day and get the rest throughout the day. And then move up from there.
