Hi 😁
Short intro. 27 years old. Overweight. Trying to get healthier after my gran suffered a heart attack. Freaked me out.
Excuse my ignorance im new. I purchased a fitbit charge HR. Having loads of fun with it.
But my heart rates crackers. Whilst asleep its between 55bpm and 63 bpm. If im relaxed reading a book in bed its between 65-75bpm
When standing and pottering round the house is anywhere between 90-105bpm. Don't feel tired or anything.
SO let's talk about HEART RECOVERY.
I sprinted (sort of) up and down my stairs for 2 minutes. My heart rate jumped to 163! After only 2 mins!
Anyway it quickly settled down to 115 bpm after 1 minutes rest. By 2 minutes it was 85bpm.
I know a quick heart recovery rate is supposed to be good. But I dunno, given being overweight and unfit it seems *too* quick to me.
I'm getting referred to a cardiologist anyway after my nan for piece of mind. Wondered what peoples thought on my nutty heart is? Is it normal to change so rapidly? Obviously it's not NORMAL but you know...
Thanks peeps!

Hi!
Cut a long story short. Bought my fitbit HR 18th june. Orginally bought it to see what it was all about, loved the device! Currently awaiting arrival of my Charge 2 rose gold... 😍😍😍
Anyhow... worried as since purchasing my heart rate has slowly been climbing by 1/2 beat per minute every day. I wondered is this something to be worried about or would it be the fitbit adjusting itself to me and it'll settle over time?
Apoligises for my ignorance im still new so all this so any advice would be great!

hey there. It actually sounds very normal to me. the fact that is spikes up that high is attributed to you not being in the best shape, but the fact that it comes down pretty quick attributes to a ticker that needs conditioning but isn't completely hopeless :). have a good discussion with your doctor about improving your fitness, nutrition, sleep quality- all of that has a direct influence on your heart health..

Have you had your thyroid tested?
I was getting winded just walking down the hallway at work - I thought I was just out of shape but turned out it was hyperthyroidism!

@Jawwdan91 If you’re concerned I’m thinking the best solution would be to discuss this with your Dr. At a glance these may seem normal however, if you have underlying issues or concerns it might be worth it to check it out. Happy stepping 🙂

Sounds normal to me as well. I'm glad you are getting it checked out. The DR is the best person to help you.

Your BPMs are within reasonable limits. Even in my good physical condition, my BPM (I'm 46) would be >150 after walking stairs for two minutes. Takes a minute or two to stabilize completely. Your numbers are on par with what my numbers are.
It's never a bad idea to talk with a doctor if you sense something isn't right with you, but you're not at risk for heart trouble at 27 y.o. without some extenuating circumstance. Get that extra weight off and FEEL BETTER. Peace.
