Much of the activities for the 4th of July will be outdoors. Take advantage of all opportunities to be as active as your health permits. If you can walk 1/2 of a city block, then walk 1/2 of a city block and be satisfied with what you did until you can do better. I talk from experience as when I first started walking following a HUGE weight gain leading me soaring to weights I had never seen in my life, I could only walk 1/2 of a block. Don't try to keep up with someone else, you have no idea what their body can tolerate, but you do know your own body. I walked 1/2 a block for a week and then I had a strong desire to go the entire block as my body had gotten use to and bored with the 1/2 a block. So, I walked a block to discover I could walk 3 blocks now to the park. Then, I got to the park and there was a track. I started with one lap. In a week, I increased to 2, and every week another lap until I was walking 10 miles a day! That was a long way from the initial 1/2 block. The real comfort was that I appreciated my 1/2 block just as much as the 10 miles as I always did what I could do. Not only did I get to 10 miles each day, I was a speed walker.
