The subject is the question. Is it better to just make the fitbit a constant?

It comes with a clip - strap makes the most sense 🙂

I've had my Fitbit One for a couple of weeks now. I wear it almost all the time except when showering, changing clothes, etc. I wear it in the clip during the day and in the wristband at night when I'm sleeping. I have sleep problems, so I find it useful in tracking sleep. I use the Drivebit app to make adjustments for time spent driving or riding in a vehicle. It seems to have a good battery life, so I charge it when I know I'm going to be sitting idle for an extended period of time. I've also linked Fitbit to MFP, and use MFP to track my diet since it has a barcode scanner feature. I find having the Fitbit motivates me to increase my steps and mileage while logging my diet on MFP motivates me to be more watchful and choosy about what I eat. I set a 5lb weight loss goal once I got into the habit of using Fitbit and MFP, and hit it a couple of days ago. I'm giving myself time to enjoy the feeling of accomplishment, then I'm going to set another 5lb weight loss goal. I decided just to focus on dropping 5lbs at a time while developing these new habits.

MFP is My Fitness Pal. It is a fitness app that you can use to track your food intake as well as your exercise. It will link up to you Fitbit and log your exercise from that.

My Fitness Pal (MFP) is a community a lot like the Fitbit Community for people who are interested in improving their health and fitness through diet and exercise. You can get there by visiting www.myfitnesspal.com. I used MFP for a while years ago when my sister was big into health and fitness. She sent me an invite, so I joined to offer her support in her efforts. Eventually, life got busy for both of us, and we both dropped away from it.
Recently, I got back into it after my wife got a Fitbit Flex. Knowing I needed to develop some better health and fitness habits, I decided to get a Fitbit One. I started walking again, and use the Fitbit to help motivate me toward the 10,000 steps per day goal. I've hit it quite a few times now, but it's not consistent every day because my work schedule varies day to day. I've also started counting calories and being more selective in my diet. I'm one to try to keep things simple. I just set small goals to work into new habits. Once those habits take hold, I set new goals to reach.
My doctor has been strongly urging me for some time to be mindful of my health. I struggle with depression and anxiety, and also suffer from sleep apnea. I have a CPAP, but don't use it consistently because sometimes I fall asleep on the couch before I ever make it to bed. My doctor also recently put me on Atorvastatin for elevated cholesterol. She said a little more active management is all it would take to bring it down. Given my family's history with heart problems, cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, and other such illnesses, I figure I better start taking it seriously.
The Fitbit has been a good motivator to get more active. Additionally, my wife has her own health problems. She had gastric bypass back in November. Both of us are in health coaching with our medical insurance. I've been doing this to help support her changing lifestyle. I also have problems with acid reflux, and it's caused some inflammation in my esophagus and stomach. I take an Omeprazole (Prevacid) prescription to help manage that. So, watching my diet just makes sense.
All in all, we are changing our lifestyle to set a better example for our daughter as she grows up. She is already interested in taking walks with Mommy, Daddy, and the dogs. At the very least, we just get out in the yard to work, walk, and play. We walk to a nearby park when time allows.
It's funny, I was just intending to answer the question about MFP.

I take my Force off to take a shower then once a week to charge it and I usually do that while I'm sitting watching TV or FB surfing.

Yup! 24/7 unless charging. I think you get the most benefit from the device that way.

so... This topic has been answered a million times, and I thank you. I just unsubscribed and stopped the emails. If I could delete the topic, I would. I don't even have my FORCE anymore, and I'm awaiting the new generation.

I have the One & wear mine all the time except in the shower since it's not intended for that. I don't put it in the wristband at night though, can't stand the thing - just clip it to pajama bottoms.

I have a Fitbit One and I wear it all the time, unless I am getting a shower. I usually charge it while I am getting a shower or bath 🙂
I also put the main bit of the Fitbit One (the display portion) inside my jeans, so only the little clasp hangs over. That way, if it ever comes loose...it won't just fall off. I also wear jeans with tighter pockets, because I am paranoid about losing it XD

I wear it 24/7 - only take it off to charge it Love that it sends me a reminder email when the charge is low. I do wear mine in the shower - have not jumped in the pool, but I imagine it would have to be removed for that one......

Yes day and night since I got it. All water activities too such as shower and swimming. I have only taken it off for certain yard work activities such as riding mower, hedge trimming and weed wacking. The reason is the vibrations give you unwanted steps. It is all about the trends however these activities you do not do everyday like driving a car for instance. Oh yea... and when it is being charged.

I wear my Flex all day but not in the shower despite it saying it will be OK.
Yes I miss being able to use it with my Windows phone too.

I wear my FB all the time except when charging. I want to know my total activity so that I can make adjustments. I didn't realize just how sedentary I was since I now work in an office environment. With the FB on all the time I can adjust my activity to at least meet the minimum daily goal.
