when you're working out?
I just did a workout of 2 different videos, and I had it open so I could see how many steps I was getting while I was working out. I even do it when I'm on the elliptical or my exercise bike. I was just looking at the calorie burn for my workouts, and I burned almost 1000 in 95 minutes, taking 10,600 steps. I could tell during the second video where they had their 2 minute walking boosters. Basically, it was a form of jogging mixed in with their exercise plan. I was averaging between 12 and 14 calories a minute during those sections when I normally average around 10 calories a minute, walking in place.

I don't normally keep it open when I am working out, mainly due to the battery drain. I did that early on, when I was first getting used to working out and wanted to find out what was working and what wasn't, but once I got into a routine I no longer need to keep it open. I also have Always Connected and All-Day Sync disabled in order to maximize battery length.
But, if it helps with your workout, @CRSunrise, there is no reason not to keep it connected.
