Does anyone know if the Force would register "steps" on a rowing machine?

I'm thinking of getting exercise equipment for home use. I put my Force on my ankle when I use an exercise bike at the gym, but I love rowing machines and the gym I belong to doesn't have one.

Does anyone know if you can get "steps" for rowing on a rowing machine?

When I had a rowing machine my torso motion was definitely something a Fitbit One would detect and count as 'steps', I'm pretty sure, though I never tried them together.  You won't get the 'calorie credit' you deserve for those 'steps', since it has no idea you're pulling against resistance but if you just like seeing the step counter go up, you should at least get that.

Thanks Mary. I'm new to FitBit, but when you add your own activities, does it add calorie burn too?

Yes!  Try it... go to Dashboard, Log, Activities.  There is one called Rowing Machine.  If you put in the duration and intensity, it'll estimate your calorie burn and overwrite the 'recorded' activity for that time.

You might want to skip the ankle thing and log your biking, too.  It'd be more accurate, since the device thinks it's on your wrist and you're on the ground.
