Does logging activities mess up Fitbit's count of steps taken?

ANSWERED

Hi,

I started going to the gym yesterday.  Yesterday, I logged the activites I did and the distance.  I felt like it messed up the step count that fitbit caluated. Today, I logged them but only put in the amount of time.  I didn't record any distance.

Can someone help with this feature?  I want to make sure I use it right and I would like to record the things I do at the gym, but not if it's going to mess things up.  I can alway make Journal entries instead.

Thank you!

Accepted Solutions
Sometimes when you log certain activities with a distance it can change the step count.

The thing is, this isn't exact. It is hard to get exact with these types of products. If you want to get exact you will need to do certain caculations. I'm using this as a close estimate to what I am actually doing, and how I am progressing. Using the journal is good, and if you need to make changes to certain information on here, you could account for it in the next log, or somewhere else.

It seems to have worked out better today.  I did "log" the activites I did, but only the name of the exercise and the time.  I did record any distance. I wander if I could change the calories without effecting the steps or active minutes.

I too am using this to get a close estimate.  I don't expect it to be perfect, however, I also don't want to be doing something wrong that will throw things off.

Thank you!
