Hi, @Ncfallwalker , that facility is available in the app!  Use the shortcuts “workout” or “outdoor workout” to track your activity (depending on whether you would like GPS info).  When you have finished your activity and the workout or exercise workout has synced to your app, you can “categorize” it to the correct activity.  From the opening, Today, screen click on the Exercise tile.  On the next screen find your workout and click on that.  What you do next depends on the operating system of your app.

  • If you are using Android click on the pencil icon.  On the next screen you will see a search box at the top.  Click on the Exercise Type box and start typing the name of your actual activity and then choose “Log it”.
  • If you are using an iOS you you will see “categorize exercise”.  Click on that and type the name of your activity in the search box.

On both systems typing in the search box checks the Fitbit database of activities.  There are a large number of activities in the database and it is likely that you will find yours there.  However, if your chosen activity is not in the database you can still use this facility in the app - however you will first need to create a “custom activity”.  You must do this in the web based dashboard and not in the app, but once your custom activity is created it will be available to you in the app just the way database activities are.

To create a custom activity go to the web based dashboard (there is a link to it on the top right hand side of every page when you are logged in to these Community Forums).  Simply click on “Dashboard”.  From the main screen choose “Log” and then “Activity”.  On the log activity page scroll all the way down to the bottom and on the right hand side you will find a box for creating a custom activity.  Type the name of your activity in the box.  You will only need to do this once - after that your custom activity will be available for logging in the app just as the built in database activities.

I know of people who use this facility to track everything from piano practice to anxiety attacks and more!  You will find that your Fitbit is actually much more flexible than you might think!

If any of this is unclear please post again. Welcome to the forums!

Does that edit the name of a singular workout is displayed from webview/app-access? What about adding an entire label, from watch? It would be nice to have a custom type of parambulation (or stationary) activity preprogrammed into my Sense2, so it will record it as that type of activity from the start (instead of needing to do a modification retroactively, though nice that the option exists).  In case it makes a difference, my linked smartphone runs Android, and the Fitbit apps version# is 3.90.
