That depends what you do when you get off work. If you go straight to bed then nothing, but if you stay up then yes you need to eat.  Since your shift is at night your eating should be arranged around that. So example you work 11p to 7a, come home and go to bed, when you wake up start with a light snack, then dinner, eat another meal before you go into work equal to your lunch and then a snack and breakfast at work before you get home....If you stay up when you get home eat a small snack then a meal then another small snack, when you wake up eat a meal b4 work and another meal at work...................This is just what works for me depending on my schedual as it changes.

my sugestion would be when you get off work eat a small snack(fruit and a small protein), since your going to bed within a few hours, when you wake up your first meal should just be dinner, then have another small snack right before work, lunch while you're at work and then breakfast while you're at work.  the goal since you're on midnights is to keep your energy up. you're snacks don't need to be large...say a handfull of nuts and a fruit or veggie. When my friends ask how I lose weight protien, fruits, veggies, whole grains and water are your friends. Everytime you eat have a protein with a carb, remember fruits are carbs. Veggies have fiber so have atleast 2 searvings at lunch and dinner. Start your meals with 8 oz of water and try for whole grain when you have breads and pasta.  example day.....8am: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 cup fruit....5:30p salad w/ 2 tb dressings, 3oz bbq chix breast, 1/2 cup pasta with a small amt of real butter, 1 1/2 c broccolli, 7:30pm  20 almonds, apple.....11:30...pb&j on whole grain bread with carrots and sweet pepper strips,...4amish...oatmeal and orange (this seems like alot but estimate is 1400 calories).....................these are only sugestions, from what has worked for me.  Keep your foods simple and easy. I hope this helps.

When I work graveyards I tend to eat on a similar schedule as I do for daylights but at PM and AM instead of AM and PM if that makes any sense.  I eat "breakfast" around 6PM, I get up around 5 PM so that gives me a chance to wake up and take a few pills that I need to take at least an hour before I eat. I have "lunch a little before midnight, maybe 10:30 PM, and then I have "dinner" around 4 or 5 AM.  What I do though is make my "dinner" quite a bit lighter than I do when working daylights.  So instead of a big bowl of pasta with some protein like chicken breast it would be a medium bowl with half a breast. At the same time I tend to eat a heavier lunch on graveyards.  I hope that helps.
