Exercise during Jetlag

ANSWERED

Hi Everyone,

I will be soon travelling to India for a 40days trip. Last few months, I have been very serious about my work out & run (Almost 30min per day). I would like to know how can I cope up with Jetlag and start to workout. I don't want to give a break to my active life as it would be very difficult to come back to my routine.

Any suggestions or tips would be helpful.

Thanks

Hi @SunsetRunner, I just came back from a long trip (13 hours of travel) and a 9 hour time difference and my advice to you is to do you best to fit in a long walk or run on travel days or break it up into two walks. If you are spending time in airports, then walk instead of sitting at a gate waiting to board. I wasn't able to keep to my normal routine, but I made sure to continue to move as much as possible. Taking a run or long walk is a great way to stay awake when trying to adjust to a different time zone.

Hope that helps and safe travels.

When I was in the Air Force, the cure for jet lag was always about six beers right after we landed. It was the best way to get liquids and carbs back in the system. I suppose there is newer research.

Haha,

Sound like fun but just wondering drinking 6 beers might add up lots of calories Smiley Tongue

I agree with Marci's tips, but I would also let yourself have the first day free. Your body needs to adjust to a different eating, sleeping, awake time. You will naturally feel tired- let yourself have the first day, then adjust to the new time there and keep your routine. Unless of course you are going to be keeping your time zone while there- then carry on as you would at home.
