Exercising without standing or kneeling.

Hello, I really need some work out suggestions. This year I've injured my ankle 6 times either ripping tendons or just badly spraining it, I'm awaiting seeing a surgeon for it, but I'm also the kind of person who gains weight if I don't work out .Each injury resulted in having to stay off it, and even now walking for more then 20 mins means it collapses which has led to 8lb gain each injury, and it's never staying stable long enough to work off what I put on so it just added and added. In addition to this when I fell, I ripped open the opposite knee, so I can't stand or kneel. I feel like a blobby marsh mallow and NEED to work out. Any suggestions gratefully received, diagrams or vids especially. Equipment wise I can't go to the gym like this, so I have mats, kettle bells, small dumbells and foam rollers at home.

Hi @Duosceleste and welcome.

Sorry to heart that. Injuries really suck.

I would take a look at seated exercises. There are many kinds available, here's a list of some videos.

Also, keep in mind that it's just not possible to keep as active as before without being able to stand and walk. So cutting your caloric intake is very important to keeping extra weight off at this time. I know it's difficult, but controlling food intake will be the most important factor to not gaining weight, even more than exercise. But do whatever you can, movement-wise, listen to your body, and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Work out...eat... sleep...repeat!

Thank you I’ll take a look when I get home. I did the calorie cutting down to the 1200, but was told not to go below that else it impacts my healing. I’m just one of those unfortunates who can either be toned or straight to over weight. Used to do hour cardio and weights every day and an hour body weight before bed, then swimming 3x a week. But this will help thank you!

Hello @Duosceleste and @WavyDavey. Thank you very much for posting.

@WavyDavey, great suggestions! Those will definitely help.

I suggest you try some of our workout sessions on Fitbit Coach.

You can use the app for smartphones or visit the website above. These are all exercises done without gym equipment. Weights you can add of course.

Let me know how it goes. Regards!
