Just a little For Your Information that we are halfway through 2020, and it is time to sign up for another monthly challenge. And a reminder that if you happen to see this for the first time mid-month, jump on in; there is no need to wait for another challenge to start next month.
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to encourage you to set and hit your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

It's nice to go to the gym when you are one of 20 ...
The theme this month is COVID-19 Related. Is your area opening up? Or shutting back down? What does that look like. In the US we are seeing spikes in the South and West and downward trends in the Northeast. But that will probably change as ‘opening up’ seems to put the brakes on ‘downward trend.’
Posting
Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Thanks a lot, and hang in there yourself, @SteppingBooks. I found with the heat I sleep much better and longer with a fan on at night. It doesn’t blow directly on me, but the bedroom is cooler and I like a little air flow on my face. Good luck with the sleeping and weight loss. We’re gonna succeed!

I'm a long time Fitbit-er and wrote a small app that will tell you for how many days continuously you have gotten 10K steps. I found it useful to stay motivated - I am currently on a 128 day streak - and am hoping it might be useful to others as well.
It's called FitStreak and is available here: https://www.raghusrinivasan.com/projects/fitbit-streak
I'd love for more people to use it and let me know what you think! Thanks in advance.

@Jotex Trying to 😋 I sleep with the fan directly on me because I have to sleep with a blanket (unfortunately weighted blankets are very warm), or I don't sleep at all.
@NellyG That sign is great! Canada is using something similar but with mooses (meeses?). Not that we see many moose in NY, but it's a good measure. I know I'm not going to meet probably half my goals. I'm not sure heat is a reason but I'm sticking to it.

@WendyB Certainly trying! I did get a new food scale, so maybe that will help too. Caught my manual scale acting funny. At one point, I added something, and instead of the needle going up on the weight scale, it went down! Now I know that when you add to a scale, it should go up, not down. Then when I took all the items out of it, the needle got stuck on a number.

@SteppingBooks Differently time for a new scale. 😀🤣

Goals: Until I come up with a more permanent fix I'll stick to my goals of 8,000 steps per day and attempt to get at least 12 of 14 hours active with a minimum of 250 steps per hour.
Steps
7/12, --10,948 14 of 14 active hours
7/13 ---11,222 14 of 14
7/14 ---7,536 10 of 14

The 15th was my Ablation procedure day, checked into hospital at 5:30 am, procedure at 7, back to room by 12:30 had to stay overnight for observation. It worked! No more racing heart. I am way out of shape but can go back to full schedule of walking and exercise after 8 days. The really good news is that I can stop taking blood thinners and statins in 4 weeks.
