Forward February 2023 — Step Challenge and Picture Scavenger Hunt

So how did January go?  Are you still holding strong on those New Year’s resolutions?  Or have you completely forgotten about that?  🙂

 

I slipped a bit. Got sick and had to reset some of my daily goals. And my 20+ mile unicycle ride has yet to happen. But I’m feeling better and I’m looking forward in February — Forward February!      

 

How It Works

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

 

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

 

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

 

Suggested Posting Format    
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week

 

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

We had a quite intense storm yesterday, so I ended up not walking.  Unfortunately I likely won't get a walk after work today either.  We're expecting freezing rain to start about the time I get out of work.  Definitely not excited with this volatile weather messing up my steps.

This hasn't been a particularly good month.  We are now going to drop in temperature again into I think they said single digits this weekend (or just barely into double digits).  I am so over this weather.  

 

I'm also going to have to set a routine for my WFH days.  Instead of getting up and getting a few steps, I slept in.  Whoops.

I'm having to revise a couple of targets slightly because we have to get to our boat on Sunday afternoon for it to be towed to the next marina for an engine change.  Where it is is very flat compared to the part of Shropshire I live in, so my floors each day will be very low.  We don't have a piano on the boat, so no CMT for Walter after tomorrow until we get back at the end of the week.

Have been sick with a gosh-awful head cold. Between blowing my nose and feeling like a limp dishrag, I am falling miserably behind in my goals this month. Hoping the worst is behind me, so March — coming up on Wednesday (!!!) will be better.
