it truly depends on your goals and what you are doing there.

Some of my friends are in the gym 3 hours a day. Another friend of mine works out for 3 hours a day, but is only in the gym for one hour. The rest she does on her own.

Are you doing cardio? Lifting weights? Looking to lose weight or gain mass? Are you taking a class?

Personally I have a treadmill at home, so unless I am taking a class I do not go to the gym very often. The classes I take tend to run 60  to 90 min. So my average is let's say 1 hour at a time 2 to 3 times a week.

I go almost every day, taking a one hour yoga class(Mon-Wed-Fri) and a one hour pilates class(Tue-Thu). I try to get 45min-60min every day on the treadmill-ellyptical-stationary bike. The treadmill is the most Fitbit-friendly. I have been doing this for nearly ten years. I don't know average.

For me it's a average of a hour a day 4 times a week. That seems to work for me.

For me it depends on the weather and where I'm at in my training cycle.  If the weather is lousy and I'm working toward a long distance triathlon or bike race I'll spend 2 plus hours in spin classes back to back to get my ride in without risking injury from a crash on wet roads.  I prefer to run and ride my bike outdoors if at all possible so unless the weather is really bad you'll see me on the streets and trails, not at the gym for my training.  I do most of my swimming at the gym for convenience, it is about 45 minutes to get to the beach for an open water swim so the gym is quicker and easier.  Off season I try to swim 2-3 times a week for 30-45 minutes, which works out to a mile or a mile and a half, when I'm working towards an Ironman or long distance Open Water Swim race that can be as long a 2 hours at a time for 3-4 miles of swimming once a week and an hour or so another 2 or 3 times during the week.

Swim 2.4 miles, Bike 112 miles, Run 26.2 miles and brag for life. If I can do it anyone can!

It will be different for everyone, but the only commonality is that you should be going or at least working out at home multiple times a week.

I think most people spend about 45 to 90mins at the gym....... but it varies a lot.  Personally, I go to the gym for about 90 mins every other day, and a lot longer once a week (Sunday).

I hit the gym 5x a week for at least 30mins each. If I have class or training, those are 60mins long (right now I have those are every other week)

If I'm doing weight training which is 3 times a week, it is 45-50 minutes...always less than an hour.  When I'm doing cardio, which is usually boxing with a heavy bag, I go 20-30 minutes 2-3 times per week.  It's as equally important to get some rest days in during the week too (1 or 2 days) to allow the body to recover in between workouts.
