My husband bought me the Fitbit Inspire 2 for Christmas in 2020. I wear it every day as I aim to get 15,000+ steps in, walk at least 5 Km, keep track of my calories, etc. I never kept track or noticed my heart rate until early this year. I noticed my heart rate would spike when standing, sometimes to 145bpm, I thought maybe I had Postural Tachycardia, but when I went to the hospital they checked my heart and found nothing wrong. Since then, my heart rate will now stay between 78-92bpm when standing/walking. 125-182bpm when exercising/running. My resting heart rate though has been going down, lower, and lower. I have started exercising again after 1.5 months of not exercising after moving. I have gained weight through the pandemic and so far, have lost 28 lbs. My resting heart rate would normally be around 64-67 bpm but has since been going as low as 52 bpm. I have read that a lower heart rate can be good, a sign of good health. But would I see such a dip in my resting heart rate so soon?

I've had the same thing happen to me! My average RHR since February is dipping month after month:
February: 66
March: 64
April: 61
May: 59
June: 57
July: 55
And it's dipped down to 51 and 50 this past week. I've made an appointment with a cardiologist to get it all checked out--I mean, how low can it go?--because, like you, I've gained some weight during the pandemic and while I've started exercising very consistently again, I'm by no means an elite athlete. Anyway, I'll be following what your responses here are. And I'll keep you posted on my appointment, which is on Wednesday!

Ladies, I am hoping that it is a good side effect of your increased good habits!

I WAS A VERY COMPETITIVE RUNNER AND SOMETIME TRAINED ON AVERAGE 50 MILES PER WEEK. MY RESTING HEART EVENTUALLY DROPPED TO 40/ 42 BPM FIRST THING IN THE MORNING BEFORE GETTING OUT OF BED. IF IT WAS 48/50 I DID NOT TRAIN THAT DAY - MY HEART WAS TELLING ME THAT I HAD NOT RESTED ENOUGH. IF IT WAS 60 I WAS PROBABLY GOING DOWN WITH FLU. INCREASED CARDIAC ACTIVITY WHICH IS MAINTAINED WILL REDUCE HEART RATE, THAT IS QUITE NORMAL. CYCLISTS IN THE TOUR DE FRANCE WILL HAVE QUITE LOW RESTING HEART RATES , INDURAIN WAS SAID TO HAVE A RESTING RATE OF 31. A BIG HEART (PUMP0 EFFICIENTLY PUMPING BLOODV AROUND THE BODY. NOT ALL ATHLETES HAVE VERY LOW RATES.
