Hi guys. I'm 22 year old female. 5'4,166 pounds. Through diet alone I've lost 30 pounds but im not in shape. Don't work out:/ which I'm starting to do. 🙂 anyways I was wondering if this seemed normal 😩 Anytime I go outside and it's really hot my Hr will shoot up. I went outside to play around in the yard with my dogs and like 7 mins in my Hr was 130... it's about 95degrees outside in Cali.
Ive also noticed that just walking to and from outside in the heat my Hr can go up to 105/110. I didn't feel tired or SOB until I stopped and stood still. /: I do get palpitations sometimes and my RHR Is in the 50's(always has been). I see this something I should Ben concerned about like heart failure or disease or Ian this more so being overweight and way out of shape ?:/

Hi @SarahLucy145,
This is a tough one. I want to say it sounds related to your weight, but the last thing I want to do is steer you wrong if there is an underlying medical issue going on. So I would definitely have a talk with your doctor. I'm not saying anything's wrong, but I think getting an OK from your doctor would be a good thing. Then when you know things are fine you can push yourself a little, fitness-wise.
I do notice my heart rate seems to spike easier in the heat. It's over 100F here now. My heart rate seems consistently a little higher.

thanks, I'm actually getting a heart work up now from my cardiologist. Echo, 24hr holter, oxygen test, and spirometer test so far... a few weeks ago and they haven't contacted me yet. I go in July 13 for a stress test and find out my results July 18:) they told me if anything came up very concerning that they would contact me before July 18, so far nothing so fingers crossed lol. But I understand what you're saying, that's why I'm getting checked out:) My cardiologist said she didn't think think it was anything but better safe than sorry I guess.
Just trying to see what others think.

I'm a lifeguard at an outdoor pool, and literally all I do is sit in the sun all day. I've noticed that my hr shoots up to 120 sometimes while I'm guarding. I'm glad you've gone to a doctor and are making sure there's no other health issues, but you're definitely not alone with the hr change. I think it's just the body's attempt to get the blood circulating more quickly to cool itself down. 🙂

Yes heat increases heart rate. Or more clearly: Heat increases your body temperature which increases your heart rate. http://www.livestrong.com/article/137631-what-factors-can-influence-heart-rate/
BUT at 22 years old 130 bpm is not high enough to worry about unless your resting heart rate is getting up there without any unusual things affecting it
See the link above for some of the things that influence heart rate and read up on heart rate and heart health, find out what your max heart rate is (based on age) and try to get your heart rate up into your "cardio zone" for enough minutes a day to maintain and improve your cardiovascular health.

What were your results of your testing?
