High heart rate and poor cardio performance

Hello,

Recently I noticed my heart rate gets really high (peak 189) and I am training in peak majority of my runs and my cardio performance is really poor, cannot seem to keep going, constantly stopping.

These runs I could do easily and never entered peak, it seems to be getting worse every run.

I cannot think of what else has changed - just wondering what is a common cause of poor performance etc.

Thanks

Is there a possibility you are over-reaching, i.e. doing to much in relation to your current fitness level and your ability to recover from your training? Difficult to say without knowing about your background (did you start from fully sedentary / out of shape, are you overweight etc.) and what you have been doing (how often do you train, what does your training consist of etc.).

Two factors that affect your cardio fitness score are resting HR and body weight: if they go up, your cardio score will go down, and vice-versa. Has there been any significant change in either?

Hi

thanks for your response.

I have been training for a while, took around 1 month off due to injury then when I started again I wasn't that bad, I have slowly deteriorated, even though I am keeping up with my runs. Its strange as I have hardly ever entered Peak HR, I tried to run slower also but still seem to be getting really high HR and performance is shocking. My resting HR is at 55.

At first I thought it was due to temperature (Summer here) so trialed a few morning runs before it got warm and same problem.

I am 5ft 6, 154lbs. Run every other day 4.5 miles. Currently taking around 47mins, and a pace of around 10mins, constantly having to stop basically feel like I am getting unhealthier every run.

My sleep has been average at around 7 hours a night, I have a few issues with my achilles tendon which flares up a little during runs. Diet I try to eat clean however I have over eaten past couple of weeks but no increased in weight. - Potentially not fuelling my workouts correctly? or maybe just over reaching and need to take a step back? I have been reading up on fatigue and looks like this could be a possibility.
