How can I get my fitbit to register steps or revolutions using a Spin Bike or stationery bike?

ANSWERED

My fitbit registers "steps" when I walk, run, hike, even Hula Hoop. But I'm surprised it doesn't register activity or steps when I use my Spin / Spinning Bike, even when placed on my waistband. Does anyone else Spin? Do you have a way to get it to register? (my husband sjust got me the spinning bike for my birthday!)

Thanks!

@tsm123 How do you use the One device and then sync it with your Alta? Does this register step counts then?

I don’t have any trouble doing that ~ it just works same as if I am walking.
Nothing special needs done .

Thanks for your response. The past two fitbits I had did not truly work. I have a new one and plan to try it out on Saturday.

I am sorry but this does not make sense to me.  My Fitbit recorded when I took spin class back in June but now does not. I can’t even get a calorie burn number from the device although it gives me a heart rate number. It does not connect. Something is malfunctioning, may be me, but what used to work no longer does.

I have the same issue with my new Charge5...(and had the same issue w/the older C4 before C5) - it does not register Spin activity at all. I don't care about logging steps - but i do care about getting correct calories burn via HRM - that is a much truer indication of activity' intensity and effort. What is puzzling here is that whenever i bike outdoors on a regular bike the wearable works great and the riding activity is easily and automatically recognized as such - it's just an issue i noticed on the stationary spin bike... To me is still a mystery, probably has something to do with faulty s/w analytics... which is strange because of how many programmers Fitbit has at their disposal

Are you asking how to include Spin bike in your list of easy pick workouts to use when you start one?

No need to use treadmill. Sticky at the top of this forum explains how to do that.
