I don't mean to call anybody out or question somebody's integrity but there are fitbit users who average better than 75K steps a day over the course of a week. Assuming they get eight hours of sleep, that means they're walking almost 40 minutes each hour every hour of the day unless they're asleep. Every day for a week.
It is possible that they're running or training for a marathon or walking really fast or are really really into this walking thing but it seems like it is too much. Any way you do the math, it is an incredible amount of walking and it is sustained over the entire week.
What's the most anyone has ever walked in a day? How about in a week?
I wonder what it would be like if I got up at five am and walked all day until midnight? Doing the math, it would theoretically be possible to break 100k but I don't think I could get anywhere near that. And 80k a day for a week seems too much too.
What do you think?

My job requires a whole lotta walking, except when doing admin. Anyways average about 30k to 35k doing that. Add another 10k running or working out... by the time I get done. With my day totally exhausted. I always wonder about folks averaging 80 K day in day out

ENOUGH!
I regret having asked my question last January, this simply does not go away and I am fed up.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME ANY MORE OF THESE “REPLIES”! Enough is enough, the point is made.
It has become irritating receiving these Email exchanges having no substance any more. It is not longer fun or interesting. Every time I see one arriving I get angry; I say oh no, not another one, so I delete them without opening, but sometimes I receive tens in a single day!!!
I do not know how to stop this; I mean you can continue writing if you wish BUT PLEASE delete me from your distribution list!!
I don’t want to unsubscribe from the Fitbit Community because there are many other exchanges that are worth following; this one however, has become annoying and cumbersome. I am not retired as many of the contributors here are, I still work fully and I receive these in my work Email address, they disturb me a lot.
How can I unsubscribe from THIS ONE?

@Al_fit if you had spent all your anger time understanding your subscription options, you would know that you can unsubscribe from any thread by looking at your community profile settings (second item when you click on your profile picture at the upper right). Good bye!

BruceBu, you read me wrong, I did not get angry at understanding my subscription, I got angry at receiving all those endless, unsubstantial, repetitive comments. But thank you anyway, now I know where to unsubscribe from THIS thread. Good bye.

225,000 steps a week is very hard work. Which is about 32,000 steps a day. So in order for someone to get 80,000 steps a day suggests that they've done almost three times what you do daily. I have accomplished what you have on occasion which is why I know anyone getting 80K daily has a bad tracker that doesn't count steps correctly or is outright cheating and/or lying.
The originator of this post did clarify in a later post that he is speaking of persons claiming 80K steps each day. My thoughts are, no they're not. Considering how many steps you already make daily I think you could agree. If not, just try it once. If you by some miracle manage that nightmare amount of stepping, I think you'll agree that 80K steps cannot be done repeatedly everyday. After one day at 80K one would probably need to rest and recover for at least one day.
I see here in bold print in the title that it clearly says "per day". Also if you scroll through this feed as I did, the Fitbit users do suggest that the the person asking the question might have been reading stats wrong and that maybe he was viewing others weekly stats. He clarified in yet another post in this feed stating that he very much indeed meant daily, not weekly.
Per day it says. Not per week.
Average 80,000 per day.
You can see scrolling through the feed that the person posting this question verifies that he meant per day (as he originally wrote) and not per week.

It is definitely per DAY.
Also, I don't believe it anymore. I have now seen people with an average of 120k+ per DAY!!
CRAZY!

80,000 steps a day is nothing. I do 80,000 steps an hour!
But, they're little tiny mincing steps.

I'll buy 'not many', but 'no one' is simply false.

I did over 40k walking two days ago for my first time. What doesn’t make sense is their postings are for the day with 120k, in 12 hours, burning 8000+ calories
